About Yummy Tummy

Yummy Tummy is run by Roisin Barrett-McCarthy (a native of West Cork) - who has many years experience in the catering and hospitality business.
While still a youngster, she was in charge of preparing desserts at her parent's restaurant in Schull - and her interest in food later developed into forming her own baking business in 2004 - trading first at Schull Market and then accepting orders for her hugely-popular wedding and celebration cakes.



Roisin works from a home, her kitchen has been fully-approved by the local HACCP inspectorate. She is very much aware of the nutritional aspects of her baking, and only uses the finest ingredients - locally-sourced or Fairtrade as appropriate.

If you have particular dietary requirements, please mention this when ordering as Roisin is only too happy to help. 




Frequently-Asked Questions

How big a Wedding Cake do I need ?
The amount of cake you will need will be decided with the total number of guests invited to your wedding.
For example a three-tier 8” + 10” + 12” fruit cake will yield about 250 finger portions approximately.

For general appearance you should consider what way you would like the cake i.e. Stacked, separated by pillars or columns or on a stand. Ensure the hotel has the type of stand you require - if they don't then we may be able to rent you a suitable stand.

How long will my Wedding Cake keep?
After the wedding, cakes other than fruit cakes should be consumed on the day or within three days. Fruit cake should keep for up to 12 months but must be stored in a cool place. Do not hesitate to contact me for advice on storing your cake, I will be glad to help you.

How far in advance should I order my Wedding Cake?
It would be advised to order your wedding cake three months in advance. If you wish to have fruit cake as part of your wedding cake this should be made three months in advance to facilitate proper maturity.

All wedding cakes are individually designed and created; therefore, we never overbook our work. This enables us to devote the care and attention to each order to produce cakes of outstanding quality.
Remember wedding dates can be filled fast. To reserve your date a deposit is always required.


How much will my Cake cost?
Each cake is made to suit your specific requirements - so the price will also vary.
The price of your cake will depend on the size and number of tiers, the complexity of the design and decoration, quantity and type of sugar flowers, etc.
As a guide - a three-tier Wedding Cake will cost from €240, whereas a customised Celebration cake will cost from €35. Please contact us for a no-obligation personalised quotation - if you are on a fixed budget then we'll be happy to discuss the options .

A non-refundable deposit of €50 is required to confirm the booking of your Wedding Cake as dates are not held without a deposit and you must pay us the balance at least 7 days prior to wedding.

What shape of cake can you make?
We have a range of 'standard' shapes - including round, square, hexagonal, heart, star and petal.
If you want something different then please ask - if we can help then we will.

Do you supply extra serving portions (sometimes known as cutting cakes)?
We can also provide 'cutting cakes' - to the same recipe as the main cake but undecorated - at a reduced cost to help you serve your guests. With bigger weddings it is often better (design and price wise) to order a small or medium sized wedding cake plus a cutting cake, rather than a single large wedding cake. Please contact us to discuss this.

Do you supply flowers to decorate the Wedding Cake?
Using fresh flowers to decorate your cake looks great and need not cost a fortune.
Our cake prices do not include fresh flowers as we do not supply fresh flowers because if your wedding cake will be decorated with them, we recommend that they are provided by your florist to ensure that your cake decoration perfectly coordinates with your reception flowers and bouquet. I can talk with your florist to discuss the cake size and coordinate time of delivery so the flowers can be placed on the cake.

If you’re using fresh blooms, triple-check with your florist that they have not been sprayed with pesticides. Make sure all inedible decorative elements are removed before the cake is sliced and served.
We can create handmade
confectionary flowers to coordinate with the bride or the bridesmaids' gowns or bouquet.

Matching colours
Keep in mind that you don’t always have to match everything. Darker colors may not always appear true. Plum, burgundy and royal blue may appear black in wedding photos. Small amounts of these colors are better. Color may be added by simply placing bridesmaids' flowers around the base of your cake when displayed

Nuts and food allergies
Sponge and chocolate cakes do not have nuts as an ingredient but there may be nut traces present. Please advise us of any dietary requirements at the time of ordering.
